Conditional Admission

During the ELI admission process, applicants must submit to the ELI their transcripts along with the other required documents listed at: http://international.missouristate.edu/eli/Apply.htm. Copies of the transcript will be accepted during this phase of the admission process. The transcript will be evaluated and if the student meets the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) for the desired major, a letter of conditional admission will be issued.

“Conditional admission” to Missouri State University means that a student has met the minimum GPA requirement to be considered for admission into the desired program of study at Missouri State. It does not mean that the student has been accepted into that major. To be officially admitted to a degree program, students must satisfy all the “conditions” listed on their admission letters and complete all steps in the admission process. Below are certain requirements that a student needs to fulfill before being officially accepted into his or her chosen major.

To be conditionally admitted to Missouri State University, the student must meet the following conditions:

  1. Complete the ELI language training program.
    1. Undergraduate students must complete Level 5 of the ELI.
    2. Graduate students must complete the Graduate Capstone Level of the ELI.
  2. Have a satisfactory Grade Point Average score.
  3. Submit original grade transcripts from their previous school or university. (These must be translated into English and sent to Missouri State in sealed envelopes directly from the issuing office or translator.)
  4. For most graduate programs, students must have an acceptable GMAT or GRE score.
  5. Some graduate programs may require prerequisite courses, as directed by the department.

Students who are conditionally admitted have the following responsibilities during their last session in the English Language Institute:

  1. Complete the International Student admission application at MSU.
  2. Pay the $50 International Student admission fee.
  3. Meet with an advisor in the International Services office before the completion of the ELI to discuss their academic program.
