International Business Programs
October 7, 2008: International Business Programs (IBP) is thrilled and happy to announce addition of another university through the Magellan Exchange program. Missouri State University students now have a choice of attending another university in Germany, with the addition of University of Applied Science, Schmalkalden, Germany. August 20, 2008: The Annual Magellan Coordinators Meeting will be hosted by MIssouri State University on October 2nd and 3rd in Branson, MO. The delegates from partner instritutions will convene to discuss various programs offered through respective universities. The 2007 Annual Meeting was held in Pori, Finland and was hosted by Satakunta University of Applied Science. April 29, 2008: International Business Programs (IBP) is sending a total of 12 students to institutions in France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, and United Kingdom for Fall 2008 semester. The orientation for the outbound students was held on April 25, 2008. Exchange students from previous semester shared their experiences with the outbound students and their guests.

March/April 2008: Dr. Yohannan Abraham is scheduled to speak at United States Educational Foundation in India in New Delhi and Chennai promoting higher education in the U.S. Dr. Abraham will be answering question regarding opportunities for students in India to pursue their studies in universities in the U.S.
The Magellan Exchange Coordinators' annual meeting took place across the Atlantic this fall in Pori, Finland, October 7-8, 2007. With nearly fifty delegates representing institutions from the U.S.A., Mexico, and several European countries also visited partner schools in Spain and The United Kingdom with most of the delegates for a period of two weeks. Highlights from these visits follow.

Expanding opportunities for MSU students to pursue study abroad, Magellan exchange program has a new partner in The United Kingdom - Coventry University. Dr. Yohannan Abraham, Director of IBP made a site visit to Coventry University in mid-march and had meetings with Dr. David Gillingham, Co-Dean; Ms. Deborah Courtney, Partnerships Administrator; Ms. Olga Askey, Partnership Development Manager; and Mr. Bill Brooke, Senior Lecturer. MSU alumnus Mr. Tony Kuruvilla, Transport Operations Manager, West Turrock, London also accompanied Dr. Abraham to Coventry University.
The second stop during Dr. Abraham's spring 2007 travels was at the Internatinal School for Management Studies (ISMS), Chennai, India. ISMS and MSU have been twinning partners since October 1999. Under this arrangement, ISMS recruits Indian university graduates on a competitive basis who would complete the MBA foundation courses at ISMS according MSU syllabi. Following successful completion of the program, satisfactory performance on TOEFL and GMAT, and proof of adequate finances, students are admitted to MSU campus for completion of the MBA and/or another graduate degree. To date over ninety students have been admitted under this arrangement. Featured in the picture above with Dr. Abraham are the administrators of ISMS, faculty, and the current batch of students who expect to join MSU fall 2007.
For fall 2007 semester fourteen MSU students will be participating in student exchange programs sponsored through International Business Programs: Aachen, Germany - Austin Chase and Ivan Vuckovic; Vichy, France - Chelsea Burgess, Stacie Copeland, Katie Ferleman, Kathryn Francis, Samrith Hong, Daniel Langenberg, Tyler Wood, and Victoria Yarborough; Maastricht, The Netherlands - Brandon Jennings, Sittard, The Netherlands - Drew Welker and Kayla WIngbermuehle; and Coventry, The United Kingdom - Jessica Nelson.
During spring 2007 semester there were thirteen students who participated in student exchange programs: Dornbin, Austria - Anthony Petrovics; Aachen, Germany - Austin chase, Jacob Elliott, Melissa Pfaff, and Ivan Vukovic; Hasselt, Belgium - Cassie Groesbeck; Sittard, The Netherlands - Rob Freeman; and Valencia, Spain - Michael Scaglione Jr, Julia Schlette, Malorie Shanahan, Billy Sutton III, and Marcos Queiroz; and Monterrey, Mexico - Jose Venegas.
