Financial Assistance:

Students are entitled to seek and use the usual sources of educational financial assistance available, such as loans, scholarships, and grants. For more information about financial assistance visit the Financial Aid page for Missouri State students.

Scholarships:

Missouri State Study Away Voucher: Beginning in the fall of 2009, all new freshmen who enroll at Missouri State will be eligible to receive a $500 Missouri State Study Away voucher. The voucher may be used anytime after a student has completed one year of full-time enrollment at Missouri State to help cover the costs of an officially approved study-away experience. http://www.missouristate.edu/ipa/newfaq.htm

Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship provides awards of $5000 for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
 
Students who apply for and receive the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad are now eligible to receive an additional $3,000 Critical Need Language Supplement from the Gilman Program for a total possible award of up to $8,000. 25 Critical Need Language Supplements will be offered to Gilman Scholarship recipients during the 2007-2008 academic year.

John T. Petters Foundation is a private foundation working to help advance the educational experience of deserving students by providing college scholarships. The Foundation focuses its scholarships to support international business study abroad programs. The John T. Petters Foundation seeks to increase study abroad opportunities for students who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Fifty $1,000 grants are awarded each year. For more information: http://www.phikappaphi.org/
 
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a publicly-funded independent organization of higher education institutions in Germany. The Undergraduate Scholarship Program to support undergraduate US students interested in studying, doing research, or completing an internship in Germany.   Scholarships may be granted for a minimum of 4 (one semester) and a maximum of 10 months (one academic year). Recipients will be awarded a monthly stipend of approximately € 650, plus additional funds to help defray travel and research expenses as well as health insurance. Boren Awards for International Study provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students and up to $30,000 for graduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East. Cost:

Students will pay Missouri State the normal tuition and fees applicable for the particular term. Additional costs include round-trip airfare, housing, food, textbooks, local transportation, health insurance, and all other incidentals. Internships normally do not include any financial remuneration; in exceptional cases, an employer might pay a small stipend. Other than internship, do not expect to work.

In general, room and board will cost about the same as at home; however, cost of living varies at each location and it is advisable to estimate costs on the high side.  The table below shows the comparative cost of a semester at Missouri State and at a host location; however, individual situation could vary.
