No funding is available at this time to support faculty travel for presentations at events in international venues. Information regarding future funding is currently unavailable.
We are pleased to inform you that there is some money for 2008-2009 with which we are to help those ranked faculty members who are making a presentation at respected events in international venues. Please understand that with the high cost of all things international, it is impossible for the university to support the whole cost of the program. The travel awards are to supplement the travel funds provided by the faculty member's college and department.
- Proposals should detail funding sources including personal contributions. Departmental and college travel support funds are expected as preconditions for funding.
- Travel awards from the International Education Committee to range up to $1000. There are not adequate resources to support international conference participation for those who are not making a presentation.
- Proposals for international travel in North America will usually be funded at a lower level, but the overall cost of the proposal will be considered. In addition, funding is not available for presentations for Alaska and Hawaii.
- Funding for a faculty member will not be available in two consecutive years.
- Faculty Travel Suport money will not be used to cover additional days, excursions, special programs, pre or post conference programs, and personal expenses.
This is part of the faculty development program at Missouri State University. As such, the university expects that there will be returns to the university. A professional publication is the expectation.
- Include as part of the application an explanation of the expected returns in a statement of professional development. If a publication is not an appropriate expectation, detail how the information will be disseminated.
- For those who have received funding in prior years, include a listing of the resulting publication(s) or other work(s) resulting from the funded presentation.
The completed application and attachments should be received no later than two months before the event occurs. Funds are limited and awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. You can download the application for international travel support.
