Apply for the English for artists and designers
  1. Complete the application
    Complete and submit the online application below.
  2. Pay the application fee
    Pay the non-refundable $100 application fee here. This fee may be paid online by credit card or by Western Union. A credit card convenience fee applies to all credit card payments.
  3. Have an interview
    Make an appointment for virtual interview and writing exam -
Apply for the Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies program
  1. Submit your portfolio
    Send your portfolio documentation of 15-20 individual works from your advanced art or design studio practice that demonstrate visual research interests.  Acceptable formats include: a hyperlink to an online portfolio or a single Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft PowerPoint file, under 10MB.
  2. Write an essay
    Send a 300 to 800-word statement in English describing the reasons and goals behind the applicant’s interest in graduate study and the direction of intended visual studies research
  3. Send personal documentation
    Submit a copy of your passport information page and photograph.
  4. Send financial documentation
    1. Submit a Statement of Financial Support.
    2. Submit an official statement from your bank which specifies in US dollars the amount of money available for one semester as listed on the Statement of Financial Support.
  5. Send academic transcripts
    If you are applying for conditional admission to Missouri State University's Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies program, send a copy of your current undergraduate transcripts in both the original language and translated in English (official translation).
  6. Apply for a Graduate Assistantship
    Complete a Graduate Assistantship Application if you would like to be considered for this award.  Graduate Assistantships include tuition and fee waiver, and a stipend.  For more information on these awards, see this link.

The English Language Institute reserves the right to deny admission or readmission or to restrict enrollment of individuals who are determined to represent a threat to students, faculty, staff, or property. This determination will be made by the Executive Director of the English Language Institute in coordination with the Dean of Students. Appeals to such a decision may be directed to the Associate Vice President for International Programs.
