Univeristy Students: Non-Degree

Missouri State University provides resources to support international students make progress on their degree as a visiting student.

We welcome international students currently pursuing their undergraduate degree to study at Missouri State University for one or two semesters. We also welcome post-graduate students who already hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and wish to take undergraduate courses.

If the criteria below are not met, students will be required to take lower-level courses and/or support courses through the English Language Institute.

*The above costs are estimated expenses for one semester and are subject to change without prior notice. Estimates are for an undergraduate international student without dependents based on 12 credit hours per semester.

*While non-degree students can make other arrangements for insurance, MSU strongly recommends that students enroll in our health insurance plan to ensure that minimum coverage is met. Minimum coverage must provide: 1) Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness; 2) Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000; 3) Expenses associated with the medical evacuation of exchange visitors to his or her home country in the amount of $50,000; and 4) Deductibles not to exceed $500 per accident or illness.

Application Process

  1. To begin, start preparing the supporting documents required for us to process your application:
    • Biographical page of your passport
    • Statement of Financial Support
    • Proof of English Proficiency
    • Transcript(s) from your home university
    • Bank statement
  2. Complete the online Non-Degree Application. You will need to create an account using your personal email address. You can save your progress as you go, but applications will not be completed until all required documents are uploaded on the second page of the application..
  3. After reviewing your application and supporting documents, our office will send an admission letter outlining how to activate your MSU account and immigration document, Form DS-2019.
