Exchange Visitor Program

The purpose of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, administered by the U.S. Department of State, is to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange.

Welcome to Missouri State University Exchange Visitor Program

As a designated sponsor of the program, Missouri State University welcomes exchange visitors in the following categories: University Students (non-degree), Professors, ResearchScholars, Short-Term Scholars, and Specialists. The multifaceted programs enable foreign nationals to come to the U.S. to teach, study, conduct research, demonstrate special skills, orreceive on the job training for periods ranging from a few weeks to several years. Missouri State University can host exchange visitors that have established a relationship with an academic and/or administrative department.

In addition to the specific category requirements, MSU provides numerous cross-cultural activities to exchange visitors (and the accompanying spouses and dependents) that give exchange visitors broad exposure to American society, culture, and institutions. These voluntary activities are for the purpose of sharing language, culture, and history.
