International Transfer Student Application Checklist

Missouri State University welcomes transfer students from around the world. Follow the steps below to submit your application for admission.

1. Apply online.
   Complete the online application for admission with the $40 application fee. International students should answer all questions fully and be prepared to submit the following documents as part of the application:
    

2. Academic transcripts.
   Unofficial transcripts can be uploaded directly to your application portal for evaluation purposes. Official transcripts can be submitted (1) in-person, (2) electronically directly from the issuing institution, (3) or through the mail directly from your high school or college to the address below:

   The minimum GPA requirement is 2.5/4.0.
   Please provide the academic transcripts in both original language and English translation
   
   

3. Proof of English Proficiency.
   

   You have two options to meet English proficiency requirements:

   • Option 1 demonstrate a minimum CEFR Level of Low B2 with any of the following test scores:

     Proficiency Test	Score*	Sub score requirements
     TOEFL-iBt	61 and up	Scores of less than 15 on an individual band will require enrollment in a corresponding LCR 297 or LCR 397 English language course during the first semester of study.
     IELTS	5.5 and up	Scores of less than 5.0 on an individual sub score will require enrollment in a corresponding LCR 297 or LCR 397 English language course during the first semester of study.
     Duolingo English Test (DET)	95 and up	Scores of less than 90 on an individual sub score will require enrollment in a corresponding LCR 297 or LCR 397 English language course during the first semester of study.
     Linguaskill (Online via MSU ELI test center)	162 and up	Scores of less than 154 on an individual sub score will require enrollment in a corresponding LCR 297  or LCR 397 English language course during the first semester of study.
     Language Cert Academic	62 and up	Scores of less than 60 on an individual sub score will require enrollment in a corresponding LCR 297 or LCR 397 English language course during the first semester of study.

     *Scores must be obtained during the same testing session and presented on a single test report.  

   • Option 2 demonstrate a minimum CEFR Level of High B1 with any of the following test scores:

     If you submit a High B1 English proficiency score and meet all other admission requirements, you will be admitted in full to the university, but will be required to enroll in prescribed course work for the first semester to ensure academic success.For prescribed courses information click here.

   Proof of English Proficiency must be uploaded directly to your application portal for evaluation purposes. Official proficiency scores must also be submitted through the testing portal using Missouri State University's school code 6665.

   
   
   

4. A copy of your passport ID page.
   

5. Standardized test scores. 
   The SAT and ACT tests are not required for international students. However, submitting your official scores can help you qualify for scholarships. Missouri State University's SAT school code is 6665 and our ACT school code is 2370.
   
   

   Once admitted, log into your application portal and work on the following steps:

   1. Complete the I-20 request form
   2. Complete the Statement of Financial Support form
   3. Upload a copy of your funding support
