Welcome to our intensive English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program designed to equip you with the language skills you need to reach your academic goals in English at Missouri State University and to become a global communicator in your professional life.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- Reading, Speaking, Writing, Listening
  - Four skills focusing on Academic English
  - 20 hours of in-person classes each week
- English beyond the classroom:
  - Participate in university and city events.
- More than English:
  - Prepare to be a successful international student at Missouri State University.
  - Become an effective global citizen & professional.

WHEN YOU WILL LEARN:
- Weekly Schedule (each course meets 5hr/week):
  - EAP Listening Mon. & Wed. 0900-1130
  - EAP Reading Tues. & Thu. 0900-1130
  - EAP Speaking Mon. & Wed. 1250-1520
  - EAP Writing Tues. & Thu. 1250-1520
  - EAP A1 Intro Mon. through Thu. 1530-1645 (all skills for complete beginners only)
The EAP program is designed for adult learners from age 18 and up at all levels of English proficiency. Special considerations can be made for admission of high-school age students enrolled at Greenwood Laboratory School on the Missouri State University campus.

FIVE EAP LEVEL OF STUDIES AVAILABLE:
- EAP A1 Intro > for true beginners
  - More intensive (25hrs/week) - as corequisite with EAP A2
- EAP A2 > from advanced beginner to low-intermediate
- EAP B1 > from low-intermediate to intermediate
- EAP B2 > from intermediate to low-advanced
  - Exit level for Undergraduate students matriculating to Missouri State University
- EAP B2+ > from low-advanced to advanced
  - Exit level for Graduate students matriculating to Missouri State University
- Each level is aligned with a CEFR level range.

START AT THE EAP LEVEL THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU:
- You have the option of taking the online version of the Linguaskill test to find your level range and estimate your length of study.
  - Testing is free if you have applied to the EAP and paid the application fee.
- Official placement testing using the seated version of Linguaskill test will be available for free after you have arrived in Springfield during the Orientation period.
- Progress by one level each 12-week term
- 215 hours of in-class learning per term (20hrs/week)

NO TOEFL OR IELTS SCORE NEEDED TO MATRICULATE TO MSU
- Completing the EAP program meets MSU’s English proficiency requirements
  - No other English testing is needed.
MSU SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
- Completing the EAP program gives you automatic access to the IPFW Scholarship to pursue a degree at MSU if you meet MSU's admission requirements.
  - The IPFW scholarship gives 75% off the out-of-state of MSU tuition:
    - The Undergraduate per credit hour cost will be $372.75 instead of $621.
    - The Graduate per credit hour cost will be $473.25 instead of $756.
CONDITIONAL ADMISSION TO MSU
- Undergraduate & graduate students can request conditional admission to MSU:
  - Apply to the EAP for three terms (see funding requirements under EAP Program Costs below)
  - For conditional admission to a graduate program, apply at least one month before the EAP Application deadline. (see EAP Calendar below)
  - Submit your academic transcript for evaluation during the EAP application process.
  - If you meet the minimum GPA requirements to be considered for admission in a degree program at Missouri State University (MSU), a conditional admission letter will be sent to you.
  - This letter does not mean you are accepted to MSU or the program of study, but it will show your academic plan and support your visa request.
  - When you complete the EAP program, we will help you formally apply to MSU and provide advising for a smooth transition to your chosen degree program.

EAP PROGRAM COSTS FOR VISA APPLICANTS

EAP TUITION & FEES FOR VISA APPLICANTS

This section is for visa applicants: F-1, F-2, J-1, J-2 & B-1 holders
You can choose to apply for one to three 12-week terms.
You only need to provide proof of financial funding for the number of terms you choose.
You will need to pay a $150 non-refundable application fee when submitting the application form. This applictaion fee is only valid for the term selected on application. (See deferral policy).
If you are seeking conditional admission to MSU, you need to apply for three 12-week terms.
One academic year = three 12-week Terms (fall, spring, summer)
Estimated expenses for one 12-week term to one full academic year* for an EAP student without dependents are:

*The above costs are subject to change without prior notice and are for English Language students enrolled full-time during the academic year.

**Beginner students (Levels A0-A1) will be required to enroll in a corequisite 5hrs/week class along with EAP A2 classes with an additional cost of $1,737.50 per term until the student reaches level A2.

*** If you request adding dependents on a F-2 visa status, the statement of financial support must include an extra $4,250 for your spouse and $4,250 per child.

B-1 & F-2 visa holders are not eligible for full-time study. They can take up to 3 courses (15hrs/week) and will be charged $1,737.5 per class.

MSU F-1/J1 students admitted to a degree program with a Low Band or Low Subscore in one skill area of their English proficiency test will be automatically enrolled and charged for the corresponding EAP class for language support. The cost per class is $1,737.5.

Tuition and fees are due the day before classes start each 12-week term. They can be paid by card (2.95% convenience fee), check, or cash. Tuition refunds are subject to a policy described in the EAP Student Handbook > Administrative Policies > Refund Policies. Insurance fees are non-refundable.

EAP TUITION AND FEES FOR US RESIDENTS
- The cost information below is only for applicants who are already in the US and have a permanent US address such as US Citizens residing in the US, Permanent Residents, H-4 visa holders, L-2 visa holders, Refugee & Immigrant Populations.
- $75 non-refundable application fee (to be paid when submitting the application form)
- Each 12-week course (5hrs/week) = $869 (including free placement test & textbooks!)
  - If you know some English, choose up to 4 English courses

  - If you do not know any English, choose one course above and the course below:
    - EAP Intro corequisite (only for complete beginners in addition to any of class) ($869) Monday to Thursday 1530-1645
- Our free placement test will be given on the first day of the term.

- The free textbooks for each of the levels will be given on the first day of class.

- At the end of each term, students receive an official certificate with hours completed and English proficiency level reached per skill.

1. A copy of your passport information page.
2. A copy of your high school or undergraduate diploma in English.
3. Statement of Financial Support - 2024-2025. (this document may be downloaded and completed by right clicking and choosing "save as")
4. An official statement from your bank in English which specifies the amount of money available for one to three terms of language training.
5. If you are applying for conditional admission to Missouri State University, a copy of your current transcript (grades) translated in English.
