Ballinger-Colon-Compton Award

Language, Cultures and Religions

Awarded annually to a full-time student studying Spanish that has an overall GPA of 3.0 and a GPA of 3.5 in Spanish. Must demonstrate Spanish proficiency and must have submitted a proposal for study or travel in a Spanish-speaking country. Preference will be given to junior and sophomore students. First priority to a junior pursuing a teaching degree. Second priority to a sophomore.

 

DeVries Family Religious Studies Scholarship

Language, Cultures and Religions

Awarded to a full-time undergraduate sophomore or greater Religious Studies major or minor with an overall GPA of 3.0. Students must be accepted for the University sponsored Middle East or Mediterranean region excavations  or have completed or be currently enrolled in REL 570 Archaeology and the Bible or in another upper-level Biblical Studies course.
Recipients may be considered for renewal, however they must reapply for consideration with all other applicants.
Please note that receiving this scholarship money may be contingent upon participation in a University sponsored study away trip through the Office of Education Abroad. If the scholarship is awarded to a student traveling for an excavation, the funds will be disbursed fully in the semester in which the student is traveling.

Jim Baker Education Abroad Scholarship

Extended Campus

The Recipient of this award will be an undergraduate or graduate student properly enrolled at Missouri State University, in good academic standing, who is participating in a University approved Education Abroad program in Asia, South America or Mexico. Preference shall be given to first generation students with demonstrated financial need.  

 

Grace Gardner Endowed Scholarship for Study Abroad 

Non-Departmental

Awarded annually to a student enrolled full-time, who is in good academic standing, that plans to participate in an  Education Abroad program. The student must demonstrate financial need because of their plans to study abroad, potential to benefit highly from studying abroad, and leadership.
Please note that receiving this scholarship money is contingent upon participation in a University sponsored study away trip through the Office of Education Abroad

 

Hom Family Scholarship 

Psychology

Awarded annually to a full-time sophomore or greater (with at least 45 hours) majoring in Psychology with an overall GPA of 3.0. The student must be accepted into the Education Abroad Program with plans to travel in the coming year. Consideration based on academic performance, leadership, and involvement in MSU Psychology Club.
This scholarship is not renewable.

Viva Peru! 

Non-Departmental

The recipient of this scholarship will be an undergraduate or graduate student properly enrolled, full-time student at Missouri State University. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75. The recipient must be participating in a Missouri State University Education Abroad experience in the next academic year.
1. First preference will be given to students, regardless of major, who will be participating in a College of Business led education abroad program in Peru. 
2. Second preference will be given students majoring within the College of Business and participating in any education abroad program to Peru. 
The scholarship may not be renewed.

James B. Anderson Business Leader Scholarship 

College of Business

The recipient of this award will be an undergraduate student seeking a degree in the College of Business with plans to participate in a University sponsored study away trip through the Office of Education Abroad within the coming year (summer, fall, and/ or spring). The student will receive the scholarship funding in the semester they will be studying away.
This scholarship may not be renewed.

 

Madeleine Hooper Travel Fund Scholarships 

Language, Cultures and Religions

Awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate sophomore or greater majoring in a European Language or Chinese, with preference going to students studying French. Students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or a departmental GPA of 3.0. Student must demonstrate a curiosity and adaptability to other cultures through previous international travel. Student must also submit a letter of recommendation from an individual that can attest to the student's international experience. Student must also demonstrate leadership within their area of study.
Preference will be given for students majoring in French.
Receiving this scholarship money is contingent upon participation in a University sponsored study away trip through the Office of Education Abroad

 

Riccardi Study Abroad Scholarship 

RCASH

The Recipient of this scholarship will be an undergraduate or graduate student properly enrolled, full-time, at Missouri State University, have maintained and overall GPA of at least 3.0 or higher and be studying abroad in the next academic year. The student will be majoring in the School of the Arts, School of Communication or World Languages and it is the donor's preference that the recipient be seeking a degree in the Art & Design Department. Preference shall be given to students who have a demonstrated interest in and commitment to promoting an educational environment that is impactful to the communities to which they belong. Serious consideration will be given to all ways in which potential recipients might contribute to the educational environment of their communities. 
This scholarship may not be renewed.

 

Robert L. Trewatha International Scholarship 

Management

Awarded annually to full-time students majoring or minoring in International Business. Student must be in good academic standing. Preference for those studying abroad. Must submit one-page, single spaced statement about merit and goals.
This scholarship is renewable as long as funds allow. The student must reapply.

 

Roger Dowdy Scholarship 

Language, Cultures and Religions

The Recipient of this award will be a sophomore, junior, or senior majoring or minoring in Spanish who is properly enrolled at Missouri State University. The student must have maintained an overall GPA of 2.5 and a departmental GPA of 3.0 The student may (but does not have to) use this scholarship for travel to a foreign country provided he/she is enrolled in a University sponsored study away Spanish program or for a Spanish internship. If used for travel, the student must demonstrate an interest and adaptability to other cultures by obtaining a letter of recommendation from a third party via the scholarship application. The student must be enrolled full-time preceding travel. The scholarship may also be used for pursuit of an academic major/minor in Spanish on campus. Should the student opt to switch from a minor to a major or vice versa, the scholarship is still valid. 
The student will hold the scholarship for one academic year. The scholarship will be renewed automatically for three years as long as funds allow. Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress, be continuously enrolled full-time for the duration of the award, excluding summers, and be majoring or minoring in Spanish for the scholarship to renew. If the student is not enrolled for a semester, the scholarship does not carry over to the next academic year and previous award recipients are not eligible.

 

Schyler Elizabeth Strong Award for International Study 

Language, Cultures and Religions

The scholarship(s) will be awarded annually to a student(s) enrolled at Missouri State University. Applicants shall submit two letters of reference from professional sources (e.g. instructor, church official, etc.), one of which must come from an instructor in the Reynolds College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities , and a one-page personal statement outlining their relevant experiences at Missouri State University, career goals, academic and extracurricular plans, and personal and professional gains they hope to achieve from the experience of working at a archaeological excavation or an experience studying internationally. The scholarship will be awarded with first consideration to an undergraduate student in the following order of preference. If no undergrad student is available, then consideration will be given in the same order to a graduate student.

1. A student majoring in Religious Studies and participating in a licensed archaeological excavation in lsrael, Jordan, the area of the ancient Near East, or the Mediterranean Area (e.g, ltaly, Greece, Crete, etc.).
2. A student minoring in Religious Studies and participating in a licensed archaeological excavation in lsrael, Jordan, the area of the ancient Near East, or the Mediterranean Area (e.g, ltaly, Greece, Crete, etc.).
3. A student majoring in the College of Humanities and Public Affairs and participating in a licensed archaeological excavation in lsrael, Jordan, the area of the ancient Near East, or the Mediterranean Area (e.g, ltaly, Greece, Crete, etc,).
4. A student majoring in Religious Studies and participating in an lnternational Education Abroad Program, which may include a short-term program.
5. A student minoring in Religious Studies and participating in an lnternational Education Abroad Program, which may include a short-term program.
6. A student majoring in the Reynolds College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities and participating in an International Education Abroad Program, which may include a short-term program.

Thomas Fullerton Memorial Fund 

Language, Cultures and Religions

Awarded annually to a full-time sophomore or junior majoring or minoring in French. First priority to French majors pursuing a teaching degree with a desire to travel to study French culture. Second priority to a student majoring or minoring in French with a desire to travel to study French Culture. Third priority to a student majoring or minoring in French. Must have demonstrated proficiency in French and have an overall GPA of 3.0 and a departmental GPA of 3.4. Awards made with regard for financial need.
Past recipients may be considered for additional awards, but must reapply.

 

William and June Ross Holman Cultural Study Abroad Award 

Language, Cultures and Religions

Student must be a full-time undergraduate majoring in a field in the Languages, Cultures and Religions Department who has no previous international travel experiences. Student must have maintained an overall GPA of 2.5 and a GPA of 3.0 in their major language. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 12 hours the semester preceding travel and must be traveling to a foreign country for an internship or to pursue a study program. Financial need is considered.
The award is non-renewable.

Travellers in Entertainment Management Scholarship 

Management

The recipient of this award will be an undergraduate student full-time enrolled at Missouri State University, College of Business, seeking a degree in Entertainment Management. First preference shall be given to a student in a university approved semester or yearlong education abroad program. Second preference will be given to a student in a university approved short term education abroad program. Third preference will be given to a student attending a university approved trip within the United States. If there is no student seeking a degree in Entertainment Management that is participating in the education abroad program, it is the donor's preference that the scholarship be awarded to a student seeking a degree in Entertainment Management.

The student will hold the scholarship for one academic year. The scholarship may not be renewed. While the scholarship is awarded for the academic year, the funds shall be dispersed in full in the semester(s) of travel, and must be used to travel abroad. If the recipient is not participating in the education abroad program, then the scholarship shall be awarded as normally scheduled.Barabas Family Education Abroad Scholarship

The recipient of this award will be one full-time undergraduate or graduate student properly enrolled in the Reynolds College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at Missouri State University.
1. The recipient must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 2. The recipient must write a short essay about what they hope to gain from their education abroad experience. 3. The recipient must be studying away internationally. 4. Preference will be given to a student with demonstrated financial need
