Education Abroad Program Directors receive pay for the teaching responsibility of their Education Abroad Program in addition to their regular annual salaries as determined by the Board of Governors. Compensation for Education Abroad mirrors the Summer Session compensation as described in the Faculty Handbook. 

Education Abroad Guidelines for Participants on MSU Faculty-Directed Programs

Education Abroad Academic Administrator Compensation Policy: Associate Deans and Department Heads may be compensated for Education Abroad program leadership, provided that those administrators take vacation and receive approval from their dean. Deans may be compensated for Education Abroad program leadership, provided that they take vacation and receive approval from the Provost. The calculation for academic administrators is the same formula used to calculate the salary of faculty program directors. 

12/12 Employee Policy: Education Abroad Salary Redistribution for Staff and 12-month faculty Staff members and 12-month faculty may be compensated for directing an Education Abroad program if they take vacation time during the travel dates of the program, per the approved compensation formula, limited to the amount of tuition generated by their program.
